Ⅰ. Objectives

The major is to cultivate interdisciplinary talents with basic History theories, professional knowledge and basic skills of History, who can engage in research, teaching and management in the Party and Government offices, public institutions, cultural and educational institutions and various social organizations and enterprises, as well as in the teaching and research of History in institutions,universities or secondary schools.

Ⅱ.Basic Requirements

The main courses for this major include in the basic theory and knowledge of History. Furthermore, it requires the students to accept the basic training of historical facts and historical research of the development of Chinese history and world history as well as basic training of Pedagogy theory and practice.At the same time, it requires the undergraduates to master the theories and methods to analyze and solve the problems in practice.

The graduates from this major are expected to,

1) fully grasp the basic theories and knowledge of History as well as Humanities, Social Science, and Natural Science.

2) master the basic methods of how to survey literature, collect and analyze data, and write a paper,

3) possess the basic abilities of solving the practical problems through with the theoretical knowledge and scientific methods,

4) be well informed of the Party’s guidelines, principles and policies. In addition, the laws of education and related management regulations should be known as well,

5) know about the theoretical and dynamic developments of history, education, sociology and psychology and disciplines concerned,

6) build up the abilities to carry out basic researches and learn how to think critically.

A minimum of 159.5 credits and a qualified graduation thesis are required for graduation and degree conferring.
