Undergraduate Program for Social Work Major(Major Code:030302)

Ⅰ. Objectives

This major is to cultivate applied talents with professional values of"people-oriented, help others and self support, fairness and justice" ,who have a solid theoretical foundation and knowledge and ability of Social Work, to engage in social service and social welfare management in Party and Government offices, enterprises and institutions and social organizations.

Ⅱ.Basic Requirements

Students of this major mainly learn basic theories and knowledge of social work, receive basic training in social service and social management, and master major knowledge and basic skills of clinical social work, community service management, social institution operation and social welfare administration.

The graduates from this major are expected to,

1) master the basic theory and main knowledge of the discipline of social work, master the core values and main ethical norms of social work,

2) master methods and technologies of social policy analysis, social problem investigation and social service development,

3) possess the basic abilities to develop social service projects, implement social services and operate social service institutions,

4) be well informed of the main principles, policies and regulations of social management and social services,

5) know about the theoretical and dynamic developments of social welfare and social work,

6) build up the abilities to carry out basic scientific researches and practical work ability, and learn how to think critically,

7) master the basic abilities of social work supervision, social work research and social policy advocacy;

8) flexible use of case work, group work, community work and other professional methods to provide comprehensive services for Client.

Ⅳ.Core Courses

Introduction to Social Work, Sociology, Social Psychology, Social Case Work, Social Group Work, Community Social Work, Social Work Administration, Human Behavior and Social Environment, Introduction to Social Policy,Introduction to Social Security, etc.

Ⅳ.Length of Schooling and Conferred Degree

School length: Four years

To be awarded Bachelor Degree in Law

Ⅵ. Graduation Requirements

A minimum of 159.5 credits and a qualified graduation thesis are required for graduation and degree conferring.
